Communication Skills

The two essential communication skills I find important to embody when leading policy change are listening and writing skills.  It is important to be able to effectively listen to others in order to understand different perspectives and gain information.  Writing skills are important in communicating policy changes, also.  Having the ability to write letters, emails, and making social media post are essential to communicating policy ideas.

I'm very skilled at listening to and considering other people's ideas and perspectives.  By using my listening skills, I'm able to process and gather information which will help me to better understand the perspective of others.  Likewise, I exercise daily my writing skills by composing emails, newsletters, flyers, and posting to social media.  When communicating in writing, it is important to be concise while covering the policy thoroughly.

In the Communication Anxiety Self Assessment, I was identified as being comfortable communicating and confident in situations where I have to communicate with others.  My ability to listen to others and communicate with others in writing will have to bring about policy changes.
